How common is infertility?
Infertility is common, with about 15 percent of couples unable to get pregnant after one year of trying without using birth control, according to the National Institutes of Health.
In the United States, about six percent of married women age 15 to 44, and another 11 percent of women age 15 to 44 have trouble getting pregnant or carrying a child to term, regardless of their marital status, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
