PGY1 Pharmacy Residency

The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency conducted by Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). The program has been graduating well-trained pharmacists, ready to practice at the top of their license, since 2016. Through in-depth experience in a broad range of pharmacy practice settings, our PGY1 program will help you gain independence, confidence, and competence to provide excellent, compassionate patient care.

Purpose

The PGY1 program builds upon Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills, and abilities, as defined in the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives. Residents who successfully complete the PGY1 residency program will be skilled in diverse areas of patient care, practice management, leadership, and education, and be prepared to provide patient care, seek board certification in pharmacotherapy (i.e., BCPS), and pursue advanced education and training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies.
