Welcome to Fairborn Medical Center Video Transcript
Let’s meet the physicians.
Hi, I'm Anessa Alappatt. I'm here at Fairborn Medical Center in Fairborn, Ohio. We have three physicians here, all in family medicine, so we take care of all ages: newborns right out of the hospital into geriatrics. It makes it very comprehensive care and we can take care of whole families, so that way, you're not running from one doctor to another to get everybody seen
I'm Dr. Geetha . I’m one of the family physician practicing here at Fairborn Medical Center. I’ve been here at the practice since 2007. We provide comprehensive medical care to patients from infants to geriatrics. In addition I also see patients in an area nursing home. So if a patient from our practice are admitted to a hospital and need rehab in a nursing home facility I would be able to provide them care as well.
In addition to the regular office hours I also see patients on Saturday mornings and patients from our practice find that very convenient.
My name is Dr. Ryan Bayko. I'm a physician here at Fairborn Medical Center. We're located off of Dayton-Yellow Springs on Gateway Drive. A lot of people in Fairborn are familiar with the Urgent Care – we're right across the street from them. We're also right behind BP, which is another landmark that patients are usually pretty familiar with.
Family Medicine offers a variety and a continuum of care that is appealing.
I loved medicine and I loved everything about it, so, as a family doctor, I can do lots of different things, from minor skin surgeries to gynecology to taking care of the kids. So it's nice because I get to use all aspects of medicine in some degree or another. Which is fun, so I like that.
Dr. Ambalavanan has some advice for patients.
So when the patient comes in to see the doctor they want to come prepared. They might want to write down the questions they have that they would like to be addressed during their visit. They might want to bring their medication list with them. Shot records if they have any and all these will help the doctor address all the questions that they have in a more effective way.
Dr. Bayko explains the importance of electronic medical records at Fairborn Medical Center.
Epic is our electronic medical records that we use here in the office. It really takes the place of the paper chart for the patient. It is very good in the sense that it is a very good way to keep things in a very coordinated manner. [It] keeps things from getting confused, keeps doctors from getting confused over what has and hasn't been done on patients. One of the benefits of it is that it is all typewritten, so you don't have to worry about reading the previous physician's handwriting and trying to make out what they may or may not have written. Another benefit is that a lot of physicians through Premier are also on the same Epic system as us, so if I'm sending a patient to a cardiologist or a stomach doctor or an ear, nose and throat doctor, they'll have access to our records. It really cuts down on the confusion, saves on paperwork, and makes sure that the specialist does get all the pertinent information so that they can help out the patient, in really the most timely manner. Another benefit is that it allows us to send prescriptions to the pharmacy directly without us having to write them out. It cuts down on the process time. The patient doesn't have to wait to go get their prescription; it's already, usually ready for them when they get there at the pharmacy to pick it up.
Fairborn Medical Center is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
