I had the kids in the car with me, I was coming up the street, I saw the truck.
I didn’t even see no pole. That’s what’s weird about it. I thought maybe I would have seen it but it happened so fast.
No one knew the story. No one was at the site besides him and the lady that hit him and the police and the ambulance.
By the time I got there, they said he was in emergency surgery. And that’s when we knew that it was him. He got into an accident. They wouldn’t tell us anything right off. They, he was back there for a very long time.
I lost my left kidney and my spleen and, ah, I broke my collarbone and I bruised my pancreas, I think it was and, ah, my leg. I broke, I messed my leg up. Broke my leg.
It was really horrible, from that moment, not knowing what to do and being so clueless and I just would not leave. I could not leave the hospital. I basically lived here and they were my support.
Miami Valley saved his life, they got him here on time, they did the surgeries they felt were necessary to save his life and they supported him and his family. Took great care of him, they allowed me to take great care of him and they supported us all through and through.
Man, when I came back around from everything that happened to me, my daughter was the first thing that was on my mind. Man, when I got to see her in the hospital and then when I was at the nursing home, it broke my heart, but I was happy that I realized that I missed her so much.
See, she’s a daddy’s girl and she didn’t take it so well. Because she didn’t get to see him for a long time. And she kinda went through a lot, ‘cause they’ve never been separated from each other, you know.
He really tries to be very independent, he tries to be very independent. And he hasn’t really let it stop him. He hasn’t let it stop him. And he’s getting better and better every day.
Life is short. A lot of people don’t know how short life really is. Life is short, so you gotta enjoy every minute. Stay happy….positive and keep movin.
He is so blessed to be here and that miracles do happen. And it is, it’s wonderful. It’s so wonderful, ‘cause…..I don’t know what I would have done if, if things had worked out any different.
