What are the risks and complications of knee revision surgery?

Risks of revision total knee replacement are the same risks as you had for your first knee replacement. The biggest risks we talk about are risk of infection which we give you antibiotics before surgery and after surgery to prevent. Also blood clots, so we do a lot of work to get you up and moving on the first day after surgery, to get you mobilized with PT and to get you walking around. Then we give you medication to help also prevent blood clots. Different surgeons use different medications. The point is that you're being protected during that time. These are the two most common complications.
