What preventive steps should be taken by a loved one who lives with someone at high risk for flu?

In order to protect loved ones that you live with from getting influenza, those who are candidates for the influenza vaccine, which as per the CDC that's everybody six months and older, should absolutely get protection and get the influenza shot. That makes it less likely that you will either get it or get it severely enough that you will pass it on to your loved one. And of course, just general infectious disease management is healthy living, hand washing and if you are very suspicious that you may be coming down with influenza, even to quarantine yourself.
