Stereotaxis is a robotic system driven by magnets that allows a physician to manipulate catheters inside the heart. Very few centers nationally have a stereotaxis system and even fewer utilizes it to the degree that we do here at Miami Valley Hospital. This system allows for the precise treatment of abnormal heart rhythm is particularly complex heart rhythms and enhances the safety to the patient in the staff greatly throughout the procedure. It can reduce the x-ray exposure by 90% in procedures that would typically take 60 minutes or more of x-ray may now only take five minutes or less. This machine has greatly enhanced the ability to treat complex rhythms again that could not be treated years ago before the utilization of this system.
