What is peripheral arterial disease or PAD?

Peripheral arterial disease, or PAD or PVD, is a problem with the arteries giving blood supply to the legs. It’s a buildup of plaque, narrowing and cholesterol that leads to discomfort in the legs, can lead to reduced blood flow to those legs and can potentially lead to amputation or the need for bypass.
