Any type of exercise is what has been shown. Most of the studies done are in females and females tend to prefer the cardiovascular stuff. [RESTART] The exercise that helps the best with depression or helps the most with depression is any type of exercise. Females tend to be the ones that were studied and they tend to suffer from depression or at least documented depression more often than males so they study them a little more often and they tend to prefer cardiovascular exercise – the aerobic-type stuff. So that’s certainly been better studied but any kind of physical activity seems to boost the serotonin and other hormones that tend to play a role in depression.
