What is preeclampsia?

Preeclampsia is a very interesting disease that is specific to pregnancy, and in fact, it's specific to human pregnancies. It's a disease that develops after 20 weeks gestation. The diagnostic features include high blood pressure and protein in the mother. It can also affect the fetus, causing growth restriction, and it oftentimes results in an early delivery.
