I’m Jerome. And back in the spring of 2011 I decided that I’d had enough of some severe pain in my groin. So I saw a series of doctors and each took a CT scan. The last of which was studied and it showed a legion on my left kidney. Or a cyst I think they called it. It was not a real serious one. It was about three centimeters long but it was suggested that Dr. Brittian, at Miami Valley, might be able to take care of it surgically. So I saw Dr. Brittian then and I had a conversation him. He told me that the surgery would be practically painless. I would be asleep 20 minutes to a half hour and that it was going to be a cryo-ablation. Which is essentially the freezing of the tissue and that should eliminate the growth of the legion and even eliminate it. So by golly we went into surgery in June of 2011 and Dr. Brittain did the surgery. I was anesthetized and I went to sleep. I was a sound sleep because I don’t remember a whole lot. Then Dr. Brittan inserted the instrument and froze the legion. In about 20 or 30 minutes I woke up. I had absolutely no pain. After the extraction of the needle I went to the recovery room for about an hour to work of the anesthesia. I felt no pain. I was able to hop out of bed. I think I could of walked to the car but Faye wheeled me in a wheelchair like they always do. They are very careful about at Miami Valley. We had a little celebration because the biopsy that was done immediately after the surgery, showed that the cyst was benign. That was good news. That was very good news
We used to like to travel. We loved Williamsburg Virginia. We’ve been there several times. We go to the panhandle of Florida for a week or two in the winter, to a friends condominium, we like that. Faye loves the beach. Of course I can’t see much but I do love my recorded books.
The Miami Valley care is outstanding. There is no doubt about it. They are very kind. Very professional and they know how to make a patient comfortable both before and after surgery. I have absolutely a great deal of respect and I have to give them all kudos.
