I'm Dr. Michael Ruff. I'm with SureCare Medical Center in Springboro, Ohio. I'm a family physician. I joined the practice in July 2011 after about 8 years practicing as a medical education with academic medicine with Wright State University in the family medicine residency program. Dr. Ruff sees family practice as teaching patients preventative medicine. What I really enjoy is teaching patients and teaching patients how to, ah, take care of their health problems and how to prevent health problems. Um, explaining their disease processes and how to, um, optimize their care. Ah, that's very rewarding for me, ah, as a physician, ah, to be able to, ah, educate them about, ah, how to be healthy. I think communication with patients is critical, ah, to ensure optimal health care. If a patient understands their disease, they are going to be better able to optimize, ah, their care. Ah, I take pride in listening to patients and understanding where they are coming from and tailoring the, ah, medical care to their specific, ah, lifestyle issues, um, their concerns and, ah, their disease process. Um, we have, ah, with the Premier Health Network, ah, some unique ways of communicating with patients, including through, um, a My Chart application, which is computer-based, so we can have some dialog, um, and, ah, ah, patients can review their labs and their health history on their own secure, ah, network, um, at home, ah, or wherever they have internet access. Um, it’s a very effective way of communicating, um, because, ah, patients can see their own labs and comments from physicians at that point. SureCare’s facility offers several amenities for patients, we have onsite x-ray, we have onsite physical therapy. Um, we draw labs here, ah, and do some lab tests onsite. We are available for acute calls and we try to get all patients that call same-day, in that day and to help with that we have evening hours. We are open until 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and we have Saturday hours, um, beginning at 8:00, running through the afternoon. SureCare Medical Center is located on State Route 73, which is Central Avenue in Springboro, Ohio.
