My name is Richard Laughlin. I'm an orthopedic surgeon at Miami Valley Hospital. I work in a group where all the physicians are sub-specialized so I do predominantly foot and ankle reconstruction and fractures and trauma.
Many of those problems get referred from other orthopedic surgeons, so people who don't focus on that, generally don't want to do some of the problems that we do.
I think Miami Valley Hospital is very comfortable taking care of complex problems.
We are able to take care of patients that have a fairly high acuity level, or patients with a lot of other problems. When I have a patient here and I need any type of cardiology, any type of ancillary service, any type of critical care, it's all here. We have people that are very comfortable with the ICU problems and we can really handle just about anything.
