One of the treatment options for patients that have peripheral arterial disease is angioplasty. That is usually reserved for patients that have symptoms that can’t be controlled with medicine and walking. The majority of patients who are that bad with symptoms often have 100 percent blocked off arteries. You can’t open an artery if you can’t get across the blocked artery. Ocelot is a tool to get across the artery by using a special laser fiber that allows us to see the artery wall steering our way through the block artery. In a way, it’s kind of like driving down a highway or a road at night without your headlights on, where you can get down that road, but you may hit a deer, you may get off the road, or you can drive with your headlights on. Ocelot is like driving down that highway with your headlights on.
