If, as a patient with peripheral arterial disease, you have a totally blocked off artery, that needs to be fixed. I can use the Ocelot catheter to help me obtain our goals of opening the vessel. It allows me to see the inside wall of the artery, steering through and drilling through the plaque to get down to the bottom of the artery, where I can then place a wire. Once we get that done, it allows me to treat the artery in any way possible. I can clean the plaque out, I can balloon it, or I can put stents in. But without the Ocelot there are times when we’ve not been able to get through the artery successfully. And the Ocelot catheter allows us to be more successful in treating blocked off arteries. We’ve had this device since February 2013 and I can now treat arteries that in the past could not be treated or required surgery to fix the artery.
