Sports Medicine

I'm Dr. Mike Herbenick and I'm a native Daytonian. I grew up in Kettering – went to Alter High School and went to the University of Dayton for my undergraduate degree and then stayed in Dayton for both medical school and residency training at Wright State. I then went into the sports medicine fellowship at Kerlan Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles, California, and decided to come back to the Dayton area, and currently practice sports medicine. I am affiliated with the University of Dayton as one of the sports medicine orthopedic surgeons and I deal mostly with upper extremities, such as shoulder and elbow problems, although I do some knees as well. The majority of what I do has to do with arthroscopic types of minimally invasive types of procedures, although I do some reconstructive, upper extremity shoulder and elbow replacements as part of my practice, as well.

People get new shoulders, basically for arthritic conditions of the shoulder or elbow. Basically we make them a new shoulder out of plastic and metal.
