Diabetes adherence to a medication regimen or treatment regimen can be affected by depression in many ways. The first one is the same as it can be with anybody. Depression just affects your mood, what you want to do, what you’re able to do. A lot of folks just are not in the mood to check their blood sugars, not in the mood to exercise, not in the mood to eat correctly. There are people that get depressed that are depression type eaters or stress eaters and, will eat the inappropriate foods that, cause their diabetes to be worse. So it’s a big hurdle. It’s a co-commiting, you’ve got to treat one with the other, and take into consideration both when you are treating the diabetic.
