Migraine aura symptoms can be scary because they can mimic symptoms of a stroke. Patients can get with a migraine visual symptoms, sensory symptoms like numbness and tingling, speech symptoms, and even weakness. And this can also be stroke symptoms. How to tell the difference can be difficult, but typically with migraine aura, symptoms develop gradually over time over at least five minutes, whereas with a stroke, they are usually more sudden in onset. And typically with migraine with aura, you get the same symptoms multiple times, whereas with stroke its usually your first occurrence.
So if you have new neurologic symptoms that you've never had before, that would be concerning and I would get that evaluated in case it is a stroke.
