What happens if peripheral arterial disease (PAD) goes undiagnosed or untreated?

If peripheral arterial disease goes undiagnosed or untreated, it can lead to complete blockage of the arteries. For most patients it simply means you can’t walk like you used to and you can be limited in your activity. In the worst case scenario, it can lead to injury to the foot, potential for gangrene, infection and sometime, even in the most extreme circumstances can lead to amputation or even death.
