A typical recovery from ACL surgery can be variable but still predictable. We see patients back at week and what we've seen from our all inside technique is most of the patients at that time have dramatically less swelling and improved range of motion early. That allows us to get a little more aggressive with the early recover as far as regaining range of motion and controlling swelling. At the three month point, we accelerate in patients that have met particular goals. That gives to about a six month window. At that point, we can do some functional testing here in our center to kind of determine the risk parameters of return to play. Are you ready? Is your knee ready? Do you feel good? Is your knee functionally improved to the point that risk tolerance is reasonable to consider going back to play at this point? If it's not, we continue the therapy. The typical return to play is going to be somewhere between six months and twelve months. Some of that is individually based and we do it on an individual basis because not everybody follows the same course.
