What is an ACL injury?
The anterior cruciate ligament is a ligament in the center of the knee that provides rotational stability for cutting and pivoting sports.
The ACL at risk in certain sporting conditions when a patient or an athlete plants their foot, turns suddenly on it and exceeds the normal biomechanical restraints of the ligament. This typically results in a pop or sense of my knee exploding. Most of the time, the athlete is not able to participate their sport.
