Nurse Practitioner Michelle Nissen Joins Dayton Heart Center

Michelle Nissen, AG-ACNP-BC, will become the first nurse practitioner to join the team at Dayton Heart Center’s (DHC) Needmore location.

Ms. Nissen joins DHC with extensive experience in acute care cardiology work, most recently as a nurse at Miami Valley Hospital’s heart intensive care unit. In her role at DHC, Ms. Nissen will spend the first half of her day at Miami Valley Hospital seeing DHC patients and the second half in the office following up with those who most recently were discharged. 

Her role will shorten the time from when post-hospitalization patients are seen for their first appointment. Ms. Nissen will work closely with DHC cardiologists, who will still play an active role in the patient’s continued heart care.

“The heart is the most fascinating part of the body,” says Ms. Nissen. “There are so many things that can happen with it, but its ability to compensate for some of those issues is amazing. I am excited for the chance to further my interaction with the patients and come alongside them as we work together to solve issues and improve their health.”
