System and Hospital Awards: November 2019
Premier Health Hospitals Earn Distinctions from Healthgrades
Premier Health hospitals each have received several accolades as part of Healthgrades’ latest quality achievement awards. Healthgrades evaluates hospital quality solely based on clinical outcomes, adjusting for risk factors such as patient age, gender, and medical condition.
Miami Valley Hospital received “America’s 100 Best Hospitals” awards in two specialties: cardiac care (seven consecutive years, 2014-2020) and prostate surgeries (two consecutive years, 2019-2020).
The hospital also received several excellence awards, including the Healthgrades Joint Replacement Excellence Award™ (three consecutive years, 2018-2020), the Critical Care Excellence Award (twelve consecutive years, 2009-2020), and was recognized as being in the top 5 percent of hospitals in the nation for cranial neurosurgery, among other specialties. Additionally, Miami Valley Hospital was recognized as a Five-Star recipient in several specialties, including esophageal/stomach surgery, valve surgery, treatment of stroke, heart attack, heart failure, and treatment of pneumonia.
Atrium Medical Center in Middletown received the Healthgrades Critical Care Excellence Award™ for a seventh consecutive year (2014-2020) and the Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award™ for a fifth consecutive year (2015-2019). The hospital also was recognized as a Five-Star recipient in multiple specialties: esophageal/stomach surgery, and the treatment of heart attack, stroke, pneumonia, sepsis, respiratory failure, and diabetic emergencies.
Upper Valley Medical Center in Miami County received a third consecutive Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award (2017-2019) and was named a Five-Star recipient for esophageal/stomach surgeries and treatment of GI bleed.
All hospitals are not eligible to participate in every category due to scope and procedural volumes.
Atrium Medical Center Finalist For “Best Place to Have a Baby”
Atrium Medical Center has been recognized as a “Best Place to Have a Baby” finalist by Cincinnati Family Magazine’s Best of Parenting 2019 Awards.
Atrium Medical Center’s family birth center offers a full range of maternity care before, during and after the birth of a child by providing educational classes, nutritional services, and breastfeeding support from board-certified lactation consultants.
The hospital’s Natural Beginnings program – the only natural birth center in the Cincinnati area – offers a comprehensive, home-like birthing center with services that help expectant moms with low-risk pregnancies navigate labor with fewer traditional interventions. The center has two private natural birthing suites for labor, delivery, and recovery.
Hilltop Obstetrics & Gynecology also has been recognized as a finalist in the magazine’s “Best OB/GYN” category. Hilltop and Atrium partner in delivering babies at the hospital’s family birth center and at Natural Beginnings.
Cincinnati Family Magazine readers nominated their favorite choices in the Cincinnati area. The top 10 nominations were posted on the magazine’s website, where readers could cast their ballots during the month of August. The top three finalists were recognized earlier this month.
Fidelity Health Care Named to Top 500 of the 2019 HomeCare Elite
Premier Health’s Fidelity Health Care has been named to the Top 500 of the 2019 HomeCare Elite, marking the 12th consecutive year that it has been recognized on the list of top-performing home health agencies in the United States.
To be considered, an agency must be Medicare-certified and have data for at least three outcomes in Home Health Compare. Out of 8,818 agencies considered, only 2,207 are recognized on the 2019 HomeCare Elite winners list, and fewer than 6 percent make the Top 500.
HomeCare Elite agencies are determined by an analysis of performance measures in quality outcomes, implementation of best practices, patient experience (HHCAHPS), quality improvement and consistency, and financial health. The ranking is sponsored by DecisionHealth and developed by ABILITY Network, an information technology company helping providers and payers simplify the administrative and clinical complexities of health care.
