Atrium Physicians Recognized with Drs. Langworthy and Hammond Physician Excellence Awards
Atrium Medical Center and Atrium Medical Center Foundation recognized five physicians with the Dr. Langworthy Physician Excellence Award for Outstanding Patient Care in a Specialty Field and the Dr. Jerry Hammond Physician Excellence Award for Outstanding Patient Care. This surprise recognition ceremony took place Sept. 8 in the Atrium lobby with family, friends, and colleagues in attendance.
The Dr. Jerry Hammond Physician Excellence Award for Outstanding Patient Care is presented to a primary care doctor who exemplifies Dr. Hammond’s extraordinary commitment to putting patients first. Three physicians were recognized with this honor after the ceremony was postponed due to the pandemic last year. Following a tie, the 2021 honorees were Ken Pate, MD, and Barry Robertson, MD. The 2022 honoree was William “Scott” Glickfield, MD.
The Dr. William D. Langworthy Physician Excellence Award for Outstanding Patient Care in a Specialty Field is given to a physician who displays the qualities Dr. Langworthy demonstrated in his orthopedics practice. This award recognized two honorees. The 2021 recipient was Thomas “Jamie” Yunger, MD; while the 2022 honoree was John Miller, MD, FACS.
In addition to their awards, each honoree received a $500 certificate for a charity of their choice, to which the Atrium Medical Center Foundation will donate in their honor.
