Patient Blood Management Program Kickoff Events

Premier Health’s Patient Blood Management Program is up and running. Kickoff events at each hospital have been scheduled as follows:

Atrium Medical Center: Thursday, Aug. 30, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm in Atrium conference rooms 1A and 1B

Miami Valley Hospital: Thursday, Aug. 30, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the Miami Valley Hospital board room

Upper Valley Medical Center: Thursday, Sept. 6, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm in UVMC conference room A

Premier Health’s new blood management program seeks to improve both transfusion utilization and transfusion safety; optimize diagnosis and management of anemia; and minimize bleeding and blood loss.

Programs like the comprehensive approach Premier Health is taking have reduced the incidence of blood product transfusion by 30 percent to 40 percent. Premier Health is collaborating on the project with Accumen, a national company with a strong track record of success in patient blood management.
