Premier Community Health serves as the Southwest Regional Enrollment Agency for the Breast and Cervical Cancer Project (BCCP) for the Ohio Department of Health. BCCP helps guide women through the health care system, find providers and community resources, and answer questions about scheduling appointments, using insurance, and more for free through its Patient Navigation service. BCCP also offers a variety of services at no cost to qualified participants through the Breast and Cervical Cancer Project once they are enrolled. Eligible women diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer (or cervical pre-cancerous conditions) who require treatment are eligible for a special version of Medicaid through BCCP.

To be eligible for the Breast and Cervical Cancer Project, individuals must be 21 or older with an income at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), uninsured or underinsured, and an Ohio resident.

BCCP clinical services offered at no cost to those enrolled and eligible include the following for those aged 21 – 39:

  • Screening/diagnostic mammography if a provider determines a need for services based on a clinical exam or family history
  • An office visit for a Pap test every three years
  • Follow-up office visits/exams and diagnostic testing for abnormal mammogram or pap results

Services included for those age 40 and over: annual screening mammography, an office visit for a Pap test every three years or a Pap + HPV test every five years, and follow-up office visit/exams and diagnostic.

Premier Community Health works in 16 counties in southwest Ohio. From June 31, 2023, to June 30, 2024, Premier Community Health served 1,325 women - 22.8% were aided for cervical cancer needs and 89.2% for breast cancer needs.

BCCP’s clinical services are provided across Ohio through a network of more than 600 Ohio primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, gynecologists, surgeons, mammography facilities, radiologists, technologists/technicians, and cytologists.
