The Comprehensive Head and Neck Cancer and Reconstructive Surgery Program will host a webinar on Wednesday, July 31, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The webinar will discuss the evolution of head and neck reconstruction, focusing on understanding mandibular reconstruction. Additionally, will cover oropharyngeal cancer prevention and management, emphasizing transoral robotic surgery (TORS). Registration is free and can be completed online.

Premier Health offers the Dayton region’s only comprehensive head and neck oncology program. This specialized program allows patients to receive exceptional care close to home, provided by a highly skilled multidisciplinary team. The program encompasses a wide range of services, including treating benign and malignant head and neck tumors and skin cancers in the head and neck area. Additionally, the program specializes in reconstructive plastic surgery for post-cancer procedures, skin cancer wounds, trauma, and radiation-related wounds.

The comprehensive services span diagnosis and treatment, surgical oncology, robotic surgery, rehabilitation, support services, and reconstructive surgery.

Sameep P. Kadakia, MD, FACS, and Kazim Alwani, MD, facilitate the head and neck oncology and reconstructive program.

As the Director of Premier Health’s Comprehensive Head and Neck Cancer and Reconstructive Surgery Program, Dr. Kadakia is double board-certified in head and neck surgery and facial plastic and microvascular reconstructive surgery. His extensive training includes a fellowship at Baylor Medical Center. He performs a wide range of oncologic and reconstructive surgeries and is also an Associate Professor at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. Dr. Kadakia earned his medical degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia and completed his head and neck surgery residency at Mt. Sinai Health System in New York City.

Dr. Alwani brings expertise in advanced head and neck oncologic and microvascular reconstructive surgery, having completed his fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He earned his medical degree from Kilimanjaro Medical University in Tanzania and completed his head and neck surgery residency at Indiana University in Indianapolis. Dr. Alwani is skilled in transoral robotic surgery, facial nerve reanimation, airway reconstruction, and advanced open skull base surgery, performing a wide array of reconstructive procedures.

Dr. Kadakia and Dr. Alwani lead a program characterized by close interdepartmental collaboration with essential specialties, including medical oncology, radiation oncology, head and neck surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, speech and swallow therapy, general surgery, radiology, and referring physicians. This integrated approach ensures holistic, patient-centered care.
