Employee Engagement
Welcome to the physicians and APPs who joined us at the March 19, 2025, PPN New Physician and APP Orientation. Please help us welcome Geoffrey Towers, MD, Premier OB/GYN, Sugar Camp; Kimberly McCutcheon, NP, Premier Orthopedics MVH; Alexandra Blood, DO, Centerville Family Medicine; Manisha Godbole, AuD, Premier ENT Associates; Atisha James, FNP-C, Comprehensive Wound and Burn Specialists; and Timothy Weeks, PA-C, Premier Health Urgent Care.
In March, the Ohio Athletic Trainers’ Association named Jeffrey James, DO, Team Physician of the Year. Dr. James was recognized for his work as the team physician for the University of Dayton Athletics. He is part of a team that cares for all UD student athletes and provides sideline medical coverage for Flyers football, soccer, men’s and women’s basketball, and women’s volleyball. Additionally, Dr. James serves as the team physician for Centerville High School athletics. Congratulations to Dr. James on this well-earned recognition.
The Premier Veterans Caregiver Resource Group (VERG) is working to identify all our veterans to ensure that VERG efforts extend to everyone who served. If you're a veteran, please fill out this very short form and let us know. Do you have a family member who is deployed? We are trying to track this as well so we can provide support, as we know no veteran succeeds in the military without family support. Let us know by emailing Rachel Bergman at rrbergman@premierhealth.com.
More than half of our Premier Health caregivers clock in and out on computers using their network ID and Quick Badge within API. Soon, ALL Premier Health hourly caregivers in our hospitals will clock in and out on computers within their department, and the timeclocks in our Premier Health hospitals will be removed.
The time clocks are no longer supported by our vendor, and are expensive and difficult to maintain, replace, and repair. Plans are in place to remove the timeclocks in phases from mid-April through the end of May. Caregivers are asked to view a brief, 3-minute training video on Clocking in with Quick Badge on a computer. Please email questions to APIteam@MVH.org.
Miami Valley Hospital North honored Shad Bernard’s lasting impact on the athletic training program by naming the Sports Porch in his memory. The ceremony featured heartfelt tributes from colleagues and family, including a plaque and portrait unveiled by his daughters. Shad’s legacy of care, commitment, and compassion will continue to inspire all who walk through the Rehabilitation Porch.
Seven Centerville High School seniors spent their Senior Volunteer Day lending a hand at Miami Valley Hospital South on March 11. Led by Krystal Shay and Lee Weidenbach, the students helped with tasks like cleaning windows, vacuuming, and hauling HVAC filters. Their energy, teamwork, and bright outlooks made a lasting impression—thank you to everyone who made the day a success!
Patient Experience
Atrium Medical Center and Upper Valley Medical Center received the only two Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Awards within Premier Health’s primary service area. The Patient Safety Excellence Award™ recognizes hospitals in the top 10% in the nation for patient safety, with the lowest occurrences of 14 preventable patient safety events.
In February, the Miami Valley Hospital South pharmacy team implemented a new BD Medication Carousel to improve efficiency, safety, and space utilization. With 28 rotating shelves, barcode verification, and Epic connectivity, the system streamlines inventory management and enhances patient care. This upgrade marks a significant step forward in modernizing pharmacy operations at MVHS.
Partnerships
Atrium Medical Center partnered with Middletown Connect to provide a Stop the Bleed class for Middletown residents, equipping participants with life-saving emergency response skills.
Premier Health sponsored the 11th anniversary MLK Gala hosted by the Feed the Hungry Project, a Middletown-based organization dedicated to providing free meals to those in need and offering summer activities for children.
In advance of St. Patrick’s Day, Atrium Medical Center’s trauma outreach program partnered with Warren County Safe Communities to promote responsible drinking at Sinclair Community College's Mason campus.
Premier Health participated in the annual Centerville High School college and career fair. The careers represented at the event were in-demand health care jobs.
Throughout March, several of the Premier Health sports medicine partnership schools recognized their athletic trainers on social media for National Athletic Training Month.
Foundation Updates
Upper Valley Medical Center Foundation received a $5,000 grant from the Troy Fraternal Order of Eagles #971 to support the Care in the Air campaign, which will fund a new Leonardo AW169 CareFlight aircraft.
The Help Endure a Loss (HEAL) program at Atrium Medical Center has reached the halfway point toward its $2 million endowment goal. This endowment, managed through the Atrium Medical Center Foundation, will ensure continued access to free bereavement support resources and education for local families grieving the loss of a child. The HEAL program also received a $2,000 grant from the Mason Deerfield Rotary Club. This grant will fund the purchase of five-pound weighted teddy bears, offering comfort to HEAL families coping with the loss of a child.
