Ingredients
- 3 egg whites at room temperature
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar (or 1 teaspoon white vinegar)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Beat egg whites until soft peaks form.
- Add cream of tartar and vanilla extract and beat until stiff peaks form.
- Add sugar 2 tablespoons at a time, beating after each addition.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased, foil-lined cookie sheet and bake at 250 degrees F for 25-30 minutes, or until pale cream in color.
- Turn off oven, partially open oven door, and cool cookies in oven.
- Remove from cookie sheet when completely cool. Outside of cookie will be hard, inside will be slightly soft.
