Joint Replacement and Complex Reconstruction Services We Offer Include
Robotic-Arm Assisted Joint Replacement
Premier Orthopedics surgeons offer advanced robotic-arm assisted knee and hip replacement procedures, using ROSA® Knee and Mako SmartRobotics™, so your surgeon can create a customized plan based on your unique anatomy for a more predictable, precise
surgery.
ROSA® Knee For Knee Replacement
How It Works
Before your surgery, with ROSA® (Robotic Surgical Assistant) Knee, a series of X-rays may be used to create a 3D model of your knee anatomy. This 3D model will enable your surgeon to plan many specifics of your knee replacement prior to
surgery.
During your procedure, ROSA Knee serves as your surgeon’s robotic assistant. ROSA Knee uses a camera and optical trackers attached to your leg to know exactly where your knee is in space. If your leg moves even a fraction of an inch, the robot can
tell and adjusts accordingly. This helps ensure that the plan your surgeon put into place is executed as intended. Throughout your surgery, ROSA Knee provides your surgeon with data about your knee. This information, combined with your surgeon’s
skill, helps your doctor know how to position your implant based on your unique anatomy.
How It Helps Patients
Getting a precise knee implant fit is important to your comfort and overall experience following knee replacement surgery. ROSA Knee uses data collected before and during surgery to inform your surgeon of many details related to your unique anatomy that may affect your implant fit. By using this data to make more informed decisions, your surgeon is able to plan for and carry out a personalized surgery based upon your individual needs.
Mako SmartRobotics™ For Knee And Hip Replacement
How It Works
Mako SmartRobotics™ combines three key components — 3D CT-based planning, AccuStop™ haptic technology, and insightful data analytics — into one platform that has shown better outcomes for patients needing total knee, total hip, and partial knee replacements.
Before surgery, your surgeon can use the Mako System to create a personalized surgical plan and identify the desired implant size, orientation, and alignment based on your unique anatomy. During surgery, the Mako System enables your surgeon to make any needed adjustments while guiding the robotic arm to execute the plan.
How It Helps Patients
Mako SmartRobotics™ helps surgeons know more and cut less. In clinical studies, Mako SmartRobotics™ for Total Knee has been associated with less pain, less need for opioid pain medication and inpatient physical therapy, reduction in length of hospital stay, improved knee flexion, and greater soft tissue protection in comparison to manual techniques. In clinical studies, Mako Total Hip resulted in more accurate placement and alignment of hip implants based on the surgical plan, less likelihood of hip dislocation, reduced blood loss, replication of the feeling of a natural hip, and preservation of healthy bone.
