As a Premier Health patient, you’ll find many ways to personalize your birthing experience as you develop a unique birth plan with your provider. Our maternity centers offer a wide variety of flexible birthing and support services, including natural childbirth and certified nurse midwives, advanced practice nurses specializing in support of low-risk pregnancies and natural childbirth.

Each Premier Health maternity center provides comfortable, homelike surroundings that invite the whole family to spend time with you and your newborn. We strive to make every birth experience special and family-focused. Many of our large and private labor and delivery suites include such comforts as:

High-Risk Maternity Center

If you have a high-risk pregnancy, Miami Valley Hospital’s Perinatal Intensive Care Unit is here to support you with advanced care. As the only high-risk maternity center in the Dayton area, our experienced staff provides specialized care before, during, and after birth.

Two Convenient Natural Birthing Centers

We believe childbirth is a natural journey for mom, baby, and the entire family. While you can choose natural childbirth at any of our Premier Health maternity centers, we offer two centers specifically designed for natural birthing experiences – Family Beginnings at Miami Valley Hospital and Natural Beginnings at Atrium Medical Center, the only natural birthing centers in Southwest Ohio.

Our natural childbirth teams are here to assist, support, and guide you every step of the way with compassion and encouragement. As an enrolled participant in one of our natural birthing centers, you’ll receive education, a prenatal visit, hospital care, and postpartum phone calls.

We encourage you to share your birthing experience with any family and friends you choose. Our homelike natural birthing centers offer:

• Natural childbirth tools such as movement, aromatherapy, and music
• Queen-sized beds and Jacuzzi^® tubs
• Positioning and water therapy for labor and birth
• 24-hour rooming-in with no separation of your family unit unless complications arise
• Physicians, certified nurse midwives and nurses experienced in and dedicated to the natural childbirth process
• Emergency medical care just down the hall if needed
• Private, homelike rooms with modern comfortable surroundings
• A focus on breastfeeding (pacifiers or formula supplements aren’t given without parental consent or medical direction
