Premier Health is in a great place to grow and continues to be a health care leader in Southwest Ohio. In recent years, Premier has seen a significant improvement from a financial perspective and is on track to reach a positive operating margin. It has been said that when we reach this goal and have a positive operating margin to reinvest within Premier it will feel different. I believe this is a powerful statement.

I understand that hard decisions have been made and many changes have occurred in areas where several of you work, which have enabled these financial changes to occur. These were difficult decisions, and I want to express that your concerns were considered before any decisions were made. I also want to thank everyone. There is more work to do in these areas, and everyone needs to look at each of their areas to see what else we can do to be more efficient or cost-effective. I believe we have recognized many areas of great potential; however, I ask everyone to continue looking for opportunities, large or small. The savings from smaller changes may not be large amounts individually, but they add up fast and help us reach our goal.

Also, we should consider areas that can grow. How can we partner with both individuals who have been with Premier for decades and those who are new to Premier?  I believe the larger opportunity is joining together as One Premier with new and long-term associates, working together to expand the services provided to the communities we serve. This is an area about which we all can get excited - expanding not only to bring about a better operating margin, but also advanced services to the communities we serve. The ideas on how we grow and where we could expand our services need to come from those of you who work in those areas. Please take some time to think about and keep an open mind on areas where we could expand services to our community as well as areas where we could be more efficient and share your thoughts with others. We cannot promise every opportunity will be pursued, but I assure you, we want to hear your thoughts.
